Manufacturer: Aerola |
|
Details:
The Alatus is a single sear self-launching glider available in kit form.
Formerly known as the AL12 (and AL12M) in collaboration with Aeros, the Alatus is an evolution from Aerola's high-performance rigid hang-glider wing, the Phantom. Unlike most of its contemporaries, the Phantom uses ailerons for roll control facilitating development into a conventional 3-axis control system. Extensive use of carbon-fibre and other composites have enabled the entire aircraft to weigh less than 90kg! All Alatus' are fitted for aerotow or winch launch, and are riggable by a single person.
When derigged, the entire aircraft can be carried by most family cars, allowing storage at home and eliminating the need for expensive trailers. |

Trike: Aeros 2 Manufacturer: Aeros |
Wing: Aeros Manufacturer: Aeros |
Details:
"Aeros 2" is a trike which features many modern designs such as its fairing which give the trike a classy stylish look. This combines with an excellent flight performance worthy of the best representatives of the new generation trikes.
A small windshield partially protects the pilot from wind without affecting forward line-of-sight. The instrument panel of the "Aeros 2" is recessed into the fairing and painted with special antiglare paint. All fiberglass edges facing the pilot and the passenger are not just covered with rubber, but are instead shaped, rolled and folded inside. This is a complicated thing to do in a fiberglass structure, but this profile increases rigidity of the design, as well as providing additional safety for the pilot.
The landing gear features automobile shock absorbers which helps when flying from unimproved fields and increases safety on rough landings. The trike features a folding pylon makes it possible for one person to rig without any assistance.
The trike can be paired with a number of wings produced by Aeros - the Stranger, Stream, Still and Profi which each have firmly taken their place in the world ultralight market and have made an excellent name for themselves in all possible applications.
Aeros engineers have designed a range of engine mounts for mounting a range of engines including the Rotax 503, Rotax 582, Rotax 912, BMW & Subaru. Aeros will also make custom engine mounts on request.
The Aeros 2 trike in available as either a kit-build or a ready-to-fly trike.
The Aeros 2 trike is known as the Venture 500 (Rotax 503 engine) and the Venture 600 (Rotax 582 engine) in the USA market. |

Trike: GTE (Buggy or Clipper) or Clipper Manufacturer: Air Creation |
Wing: Kiss 400 Manufacturer: Air Creation |
Details:
Whilst flexwing technology has traditionally focussed on producing faster and bigger-engined machines, accepting heavy handling and poor manoeuvrability as part of the bargain, Air Creation Designer Gilles Bru decided that for his next design, rather than blindly following the path of extra speed, he would create a wing that would retain the performance of the current state-of-the-art machines, but advance in the areas of handling and manoeuvrability. The result was the Kiss.
A fabric called Hydranet is used on the upper surface, offering twice the strength of traditional Dacron, and is almost impossible to tear. The Hydranet upper surface is joined at the rear to the Dacron lower surface by a web of flexible Neoprene, which allows the wing to flex and provides light and smooth control response.
The Kiss 400 is a 13m² wing rated to carry a maximum all-up weight of 400kg, making it ideal for the majority of pilots needs.
The base trike model is the Twin trike, which is kept very basic with no fibreglass farings yet the Twin proudly shows off it's framework in a smooth epoxy coated finish. Noticeable features are the fully cupped pedals, full screen binnacle, side stowage bags and under-slung radiator cowling (582 only) which all compliment the solid trike unit.
In 'Buggy' specification the Twin trike is enclosed in a smooth glass fibre shell and has finned wheel fairings for enhanced directional stability at high speed. The cockpit fairing reduces drag, and coupled with the windscreen reduces slipstream for the occupants. It also provides a useful underseat stowage area.
The 'GTE' trike complements the Twin by offering a large number of optional extras as standard. These include more comfortable seats and a larger 60-litre fuel tank. The GTE specification also includes enhanced side stowage bags and rear seat stowage bag, and inertia-reel shoulder straps for occupant comfort. A rear footrest kit and heavy-duty tyres also come as standard.
The Clipper is the pinnacle of the Air Creation trike range and has all of the GTE features listed above but in addition the trike unit is enclosed with a forwards fairing like the Buggy trike and has an additional rear fairing/ luggage container beneath the engine which together with fairings for the gear legs increases the aerodynamic efficiency of the trike unit and completes a very elegant picture.
Although offered as a kit-built aeroplane, the Kiss has been required to meet the full specifications of the British Civil Aviation Requirements Section S which is considered the most thorough standard for microlight aircraft in the world, and provides an excellent guarantee of structural and flight safety standards.
The Kiss is sold in the UK as a fast-build kit. |

The Kiss 450 has a wing area of 15m², and a max load of 450kg, for serious touring or load-carrying capacity requirements.

Trike: Clipper 912 Manufacturer: Air Creation |
Wing: iXess Manufacturer: Air Creation |
Details:
The iXess is the new performance wing from Air Creation and provides stunning performance at both ends of the speed range, coupled with Air Creation's trademark sweet handling and poise.
Traditionally to achieve high speed requires a small wing with high wing loading, the downside of which is high stall speed and associated high speeds and distances for takeoff and landing. To fly slowly required large wings with poor handling definition and large displacements in turbulence, however, the iXess achieves both high and low speed flight and predictable precise handling from just one medium sized wing due to its incredible aerodynamic efficiency.
The Clipper 912 trike makes an excellent partner for the iXess and has large stowage bags and an under engine luggage compartment making it ideal for long distance touring.
Flylight are currently working on the Section-S testing for the iXess. Initial predictions are that the iXess with a Clipper trike should be available to the British market in Spring 2004. |

Trike: XT-912 Manufacturer: Airborne |
Wing: Streak 2 Manufacturer: Airborne |
Details:
The XT-912 made it's debut at Sun N Fun in April 2003 and whilst it may at first glance look simply like an Edge X with a 912 engine, looking closer will reveal that the XT base is a total re-design.
The XT can be set up easily by one person due to the fact that the monopole folds independently of the engine and features a gas strut to help lift the wing onto the trike base with minimum effort. The trike features rear shock absorbers and on the front again high quality double action adjustable shock absorbers are featured.
The seat frame has been widened over the Edge X and the cockpit has a taller windscreen for improved wind deflection.
The wide rear 6 inch wheels remain a feature as with our other models but the wheel spats have been redesigned to include an aerodynamic fin.
The XT-912 comes standard with the new Streak 2 wing which features a mylar leading edge.
The XT features a Rotax 912 delivering a smooth 80 HP to a new 3 blade composite propeller and t massive 60+ litre fuel tank gives the pilot enough airtime for extensive cross country flights.
Digital instrumentation is standard on the XT which uses the Skydat GX2 engine and flight management instrument. |
